When can I drive again?

In the case of an arthrodesis with an internal implant such as SMART TOE®, you can normally drive again after two weeks (depending on the number of hammer toes or claw toes treated).

How long will I be off work?

This depends on the type of surgery, the nature of your work and the mode of transport used to commute. It would not be advisable, for example, to remain standing in the underground for an hour or more in the morning and evening. The minimum duration for being off work is generally 2 weeks – your surgeon will confirm this.

Are there any risks with this operation?

As with all surgical operations, there are risks. Your surgeon and your anaesthetist will be able to judge any possible complications, depending on your health records. With regards to the implant itself, rest assured: French and Swiss studies on the SMART TOE® show that 95 to 99% of patients were satisfied with the results.
